Texting Essay Example for Free
Messaging Essay Messaging exchanging composed messages over cellphones and different gadgets is changing the manner in which individuals impart, (Janet). Proofreader Debra Nussbaum writes in an article from the Philadelphia Inquirer that by the mid 2000ââ¬â¢s Americans sent in excess of two trillion messages every year, by 2007, messaging had surpassed calls by far. This has certainly had a tremendous effect in the manner individuals speak with one another. To get a letter via the post office is entirely uncommon today particularly realizing that a content will arrive at a friend or family member tout de suite. This is without a doubt the age of moment delight and having no tolerance, nonetheless, that can be something worth being thankful for in specific circumstances. Crises are being transferred promptly also alongside significant notices from mobile phone organizations and schools. Grown-ups are bouncing on the temporary fad to remain in contact with their children, who are in all likelihood just going to convey in an opportune way by means of text. There are numerous beneficial things that have come out of messaging, however as regular with every beneficial thing there can be drawbacks. A year ago, David Miller, overseer of Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said 911 content informing will spread around the state and that messaging is one central apparatus in the up and coming age of correspondence with 911. In todayââ¬â¢s society, messaging is a piece of our way of life, and despite the fact that there are numerous circumstances where messaging has demonstrated deadly, in a circumstance like this one, messaging has demonstrated to be an increasingly compelling and safe approach to impart. Initially 911 messaging was advanced for the meeting hindered and individuals with discourse weaknesses however has as of late prove to be useful in circumstances where correspondence with 911 should hush up. On the off chance that a homeownerââ¬â¢s house was being broken into they could message 911 as opposed to calling and abstain from placing them in a progressively risky circumstance, such as being heard by the gatecrasher. Alongside crises turning out to be text wise, messaging has additionally demonstrated exceptionally supportive for guardians attempting to keep in contact with their school destined kids. Numerous undergrads are occupied with examining or spending time with their companions and donââ¬â¢t have the opportunity to get the telephone and call home. Kim Leonard writes in an article structure the Pittsburg Tribune clarifying that significant wireless organizations announced more individuals in the 40ââ¬â¢s and 50ââ¬â¢s are utilizing messaging to speak with their ââ¬Å"sons and little girls on the goâ⬠. Messaging is natural for teenagers and youthful grown-ups nowadays however a greater number of times than not it isnââ¬â¢t for grown-ups. To help the not all that text sagacious grown-ups numerous phone organizations are making word references with ââ¬Å"text-ese abreviationsâ⬠. These highlights are making it simpler for guardians to have the option to impart and remain in contact with their kids just as remain cool with the new dialect and stay aware of their kidââ¬â¢s text language. Messaging has developed drastically past the adolescent and 20-something thumb age over the previous year, to some extent since guardians are starting to utilize the cellphone screen as another channel to speak with youngsters who in any case probably won't have a lot to state, (Johnson). Nonetheless, guardians arenââ¬â¢t the main ones attempting to speak with their kids utilizing messaging, universities are getting on also. A paper source said one school decided to utilize whatââ¬â¢s called ââ¬Å"JANET txtâ⬠to remain nearer and stay in contact with the understudies in ââ¬Å"their own languageâ⬠. By doing this the school has made it simpler to get tightly to understudies to illuminate them about papers due or class plan changes or crises nearby. Paul Taylor, Network and Corporate Data Manager at Gateway Sixth Form College clarifies, On one event, the school needed to close when our water flexibly was cut off, and we sent messages promptly the following morning when the gracefully was reestablished to tell understudies that the school was re-openingâ⬠¦, (Gateway Sixth Form College). These notices are much simpler approach to speak with occupied undergrads and are being utilized by something beyond schools, today numerous mobile phone organizations will message you a warning telling you your PDA bill is expected or if youââ¬â¢ve gone over your minutes. Theyre advancing telephone text informing plans that permit families many messages, or boundless utilize every month, (Leonard). These boundless use of minutes gives youngsters and grown-ups as much content time as possible need making individuals become progressively reliant on their telephones. Boundless utilization probably won't be such a terrible thing with regards to guardians knowing where their kids are the point at which they are with their companions or have a significant message to transfer to them while they are at school. While their appearances might be stuck to their telephones at any rate guardians realize children will see the message. Since youthful grown-ups depend on messaging most would really want to message at that point consider in this manner adjusting the manner in which teenagers speak with one another too. Messaging is likewise less expensive in light of the fact that more often than not its free creation conveying between teenagers substantially more advantageous. There was a point in the not very far off past when understudies who needed to speak with one another at school passed notes,(Prater). Today teenagers arenââ¬â¢t passing notes in class, they are messaging. Christina Porter, a senior at OHS, discloses that she likes to speak with her companions by messaging as opposed to calling. Adolescents are depending on messaging so much it can be an awful thing too. Rather than focusing in class they are taking a gander at their telephones and trusting that their companion will answer to their content. Strolling and messaging has become a pattern too. Individuals arenââ¬â¢t focusing on whatââ¬â¢s going on around them any longer in light of the fact that their noses are stuck looking down at their telephones. A few people may state that messaging has demolished this generationââ¬â¢s capacity to have an ordinary eye to eye discussion, that they are progressively reserved or need legitimate relational abilities. That might possibly be genuine yet one thing that is ending up being genuine is that individuals arenââ¬â¢t simply giving more consideration to their telephones while strolling however driving too. Messaging while at the same time driving has demonstrated to be deadly which has constrained numerous states to boycott the utilization of any mobile phone use while driving. This is one of the gigantic ruins of utilizing messaging as a structure to impart. Information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration uncovers that almost 6,000 individuals were murdered a year ago in mishaps brought about by diverted drivers, and 515,000 individuals were harmed. Individuals feel like they are pulling off utilizing their mobile phones while driving in light of the fact that the police canââ¬â¢t see the telephone in the driverââ¬â¢s hands in the event that they are messaging. ââ¬Å"Talking or eating doesnt necessitate that you turn away from the street, yet messaging does. That fast look can have an enormous effect: Texting truck drivers are multiple times bound to crash, as indicated by a Virginia Tech Transportation Institute studyâ⬠, (Its dum). Talk or text is simply the inquiry individuals should pose in the event that they just canââ¬â¢t withdraw themselves from their telephones sufficiently long to head to the nearby market for more milk. Sadly youngsters, since they will in general be progressively appended to their telephones, are the main guilty parties of this wrongdoing. 46% of adolescents state they text while driving, as per a 2007 AAA study. Another video, made by a British police office, graphically portrays a messaging youngster slamming her vehicle and has no uncertainty established a connection with its 1. 8 million YouTube watchers, (Its dum). Ideally it wonââ¬â¢t take a million youngsters encountering their companions passing on in fender benders brought about by messaging to an incredible unfortunate propensity. While messaging and driving have been the reason for various passings out and about, some would contend messaging has been the enemy of sentiment also. In any case if individuals need it or not, ââ¬Å"the computerized ageâ⬠has created another desire for current sentiment. ââ¬Å"Natural determination might be favoringâ⬠the content keen, jokester as opposed to the confident ââ¬Å"alpha maleâ⬠, (Has Texting Killed Romance? ). Individuals donââ¬â¢t chance approaching somebody they find appealing any more when itââ¬â¢s a lot simpler to discover what their number is from an outside source and text them. Messaging has changed the smooth talker to the smooth texter. ââ¬Å"We havent lost sentiment in the advanced age, yet we might be disregarding itâ⬠, (Has Texting Killed Romance? ). Some would contend that indeed, messaging has taken the specialty of formal, up close and personal correspondence out of society however we are a continually advancing world. Presently we can send a book with an image or talk by means of video knead. Composing is unquestionably not disappearing either itââ¬â¢s simply formed into another structure, momentary computerized conveyance. Ideally we can figure out how to value the beneficial things that have originated from messaging and the various types of correspondence. Before long we will send 3D pictures of ourselves on a projector and perhaps talking into our hands. With everything taken into account messaging isn't disappearing thus we should figure out how to make it work to improve things and not the most noticeably awful.

These families had a variety of experiences in being accepted, as well as different experiences when it comes to navigating the financial aid process. Most of the parents taking this survey (59%) had students graduating from high school in 2019, while 25% of respondents had children that graduated in 2018. In the end, 54% of respondents reported being ââ¬Å"very satisfiedâ⬠with the outcome of the college admissions process, and 42% reported being ââ¬Å"satisfied.â⬠However, even though the vast majority came to a desirable outcome, the process wasnââ¬â¢t easy. How Much Support Do Families Receive Through the Process? One of the biggest pieces of advice from survey respondents was to start early. Even though you might get help from free sources as you look for colleges and go through the admissions and financial aid process, you might still need more time. The learning curve is steep, and you might not have time to get through it if you arenââ¬â¢t starting as early as possible. ââ¬Å"Determine if you need help early,â⬠wrote one survey respondent. ââ¬Å"Accept that you might have to pay for a service, for example, test prep or college match.â⬠When it came to feeling adequately supported through the process, 57% of respondents claimed that high school counselors did a good job, while 43% said they werenââ¬â¢t supported adequately by high school counselors. Of those that actually used a private college counselor to get help, 66% said they felt adequately supported. However, only 26% of the respondents used a private counselor to navigate the process. Admissions officers at colleges received the highest marks for helpfulness, with 80% of respondents claiming they felt adequately supported. What Resources are Most Helpful when Going through College Admissions? Because so many respondents pointed to the importance of starting early and researching options, itââ¬â¢s important to understand which resources are most helpful. According to the survey, 65% found college websites to be a ââ¬Å"very helpfulâ⬠source of information, while 35% of respondents found them ââ¬Å"somewhat helpful.â⬠We were pleased that quite a few respondents pointed to Road2College as a helpful resource, with one in particular offering this advice: ââ¬Å"Utilize the Road2College livestreams ââ¬â super informative.â⬠If youââ¬â¢re looking for information about the process, though, itââ¬â¢s important to be careful about which websites you follow. ââ¬Å"It is overwhelming and many sites make it worse,â⬠pointed out one respondent. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s not an apples to apples situation and it is easy to get caught up in all the comments on some of the sites.â⬠In addition to websites being a helpful resource, Facebook groups, like the Paying for College 101 group, seem to be good sources of information for parents looking for information and support. Only 1% of respondents found Facebook groups ââ¬Å"not at allâ⬠helpful. ââ¬Å"Facebook groups are very helpful as some parents have been through the process before and are very knowledgeable, recommending sites,â⬠wrote one respondent. Other resources for college didnââ¬â¢t fare as well in terms of helpfulness. Only 33% of those who used test prep services found them ââ¬Å"very helpful,â⬠while 50% labeled them ââ¬Å"somewhat helpful.â⬠Essay writing/editing services were 43% ââ¬Å"very helpfulâ⬠and 45% ââ¬Å"somewhat helpful.â⬠Additionally, 58% of respondents found financial planning services ââ¬Å"somewhat helpfulâ⬠while 25% found them ââ¬Å"very helpful.â⬠When looking for help with financial planning, many respondents pointed to the net price calculators that some college websites have. These calculators are designed to help families figure out the cost of attendance so that they can prepare. Additionally, many parents suggested talking to children about the realities of their financial situation and what is affordable without taking on a lot of debt. ââ¬Å"Please look into a college that you can afford,â⬠suggested one respondent. ââ¬Å"Also, if you know you are going to get financial aid, be sure to know what percentage of needs the school meets.â⬠Many others suggested learning more about financial aid and financial planning as early as possible so that unrealistic and expensive schools could be taken off the list. Additionally, the admonition to look beyond big names was also a feature of many comments. ââ¬Å"Each college requirement is unique as well as each childââ¬â¢s capability and profile,â⬠wrote one respondent. ââ¬Å"Choose what will work for your child and family, not what is ranked higher or a big name.â⬠In the end, though, itââ¬â¢s up to you to put in the work, along with your child, to look for a situation that will work well. ââ¬Å"Do your own research,â⬠wrote one respondent. ââ¬Å"Be your own advocate. Encourage your kids to keep trying.â⬠Real Life Families Talk About the Support Received During the College Admissions Process We talked to two moms about the college admissions process and the support they received while working through the system. Hereââ¬â¢s what they said about the process. Christina Jennings ââ¬Å"When you talk about clueless, youââ¬â¢re talking about me,â⬠says Christina. ââ¬Å"I thought financial aid would be free money. I thought, we apply, we get in, we get money.â⬠Unfortunately, the situation didnââ¬â¢t play out like Christina expected. ââ¬Å"She got in almost everywhere and no one was giving her money,â⬠she says. ââ¬Å"We were blindsided by the costs of these schools.â⬠Christina says her main mistake was letting her daughter apply to a lot of big-name (and big-cost) schools. In fact, Christina had no idea about the net price calculators on many college websites, so she didnââ¬â¢t have any way of comparing. On top of that, even though she filled out the FAFSA, she didnââ¬â¢t fully understand EFC. As a result, she wasnââ¬â¢t prepared for the financial burden placed on her family by college. When her next daughter goes through the process, Christina says sheââ¬â¢ll limit where she can apply and approach it in a much more organized manner. However, approaching things in an organized manner next time wasnââ¬â¢t going to help now. Christina wasnââ¬â¢t sure what to do until she found help from someone in the Paying for College 101 Facebook group. ââ¬Å"It was the end of February and going into March and I was completely freaked out. I didnââ¬â¢t know what to do,â⬠Christina says. ââ¬Å"A member of the group, who does college counseling, helped me find schools with rolling admissions. She helped us apply late to schools that offered money.â⬠In the end, Christinaââ¬â¢s daughter is headed to North Carolina. Itââ¬â¢s not her first choice school, but itââ¬â¢s one that they can make work. They received enough money to cover about half the cost of attendance, and sheââ¬â¢s taking as much as she can in federal loans. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re both working our tails off right now to make money so that we can pay for most of the remainder,â⬠says Christina. ââ¬Å"The hope is that sheââ¬â¢ll borrow less than $10,000 in private loans in addition to the federal loans.â⬠Christinaââ¬â¢s advice to other parents is to research costs ahead of time and be realistic about whatââ¬â¢s feasible in your budget. ââ¬Å"Talk about it ahead of time,â⬠says Christina. ââ¬Å"Have a plan, even before you start visiting schools. Talk about expectations early on.â⬠Maygin Hamilton Maygin is going through the process for the second time this year. She feels much more confident this time around than she did before. ââ¬Å"My oldest is going to be a junior in college in the fall,â⬠says Maygin. ââ¬Å"Her school counselors were not very helpful. We were on our own and things were very different when I applied 25 years ago.â⬠Maygin felt completely unprepared for the process, and frustrated by all the conflicting information about financial aid. She was especially disappointed after realizing the reality of the EFC. ââ¬Å"Because we had a low EFC, we were under the impression that my daughter would get a full ride to almost all schools,â⬠says Maygin. ââ¬Å"This was definitely not the truth.â⬠Like Christina, Maygin hadnââ¬â¢t heard of net price calculators on school websites and had no idea how to estimate the cost of college ahead of time. It was disappointing because this lack of information led her daughter to apply to schools that were financially out of reach. ââ¬Å"There were schools that she fell in love with and were accepted to that we had to decline,â⬠says Maygin. ââ¬Å"It was a heartbreaking experience.â⬠She also points out that not everyone can afford college counseling. Maygin thinks that it might have been helpful to have a guide, but they couldnââ¬â¢t pay for it. ââ¬Å"I felt like the help was not available and we did not know the right places to look or ask,â⬠she says. ââ¬Å"I feel like that is a disadvantage to students who arenââ¬â¢t fortunate enough to be able to pay for college counseling.â⬠However, Maygin is happier and more confident now that sheââ¬â¢s been through the process and that sheââ¬â¢s found helpful websites like Road2College and Facebook groups that can help provide information and support. Being able to tap into help from parents who have been through it can be a big help. ââ¬Å"The goal is to not have my daughter strapped with loans, but it seems like that is the reality,â⬠Maygin says. ââ¬Å"We are trying to get through this with minimal loans so a lot of schools with heavier price tags are removed from the list.â⬠In the end, Maygin suggests that parents really look into price, and learn about the resources available, like the net price calculators. Be realistic about how financial aid works and talk to your students ahead of time about what they can expect. Itââ¬â¢s not fun to weed out colleges, but it might have to be done. Bottom Line The college admissions process can be difficult to navigate, and information about financial aid can be confusing. Without a supportive group, it can be hard to get good information about how to make the most of financial aid. However, there are resources available. Consider signing up for our free webinars that can help you learn more about the process and how to navigate it. Additionally, joining the Paying For College 101 Facebook group can give you access to hundreds of families looking for guidance on the process ââ¬â as well as access to parents who have been there before and can provide help and support. If youââ¬â¢re looking for ways to close a college funding gap, consider College Ave Student Loans, who sponsored this survey. Weââ¬â¢re grateful for their help and resources ââ¬â like their student loan calculatorââ¬â which can help you compare your loan options and figure out how to make the best financial choices when paying for school.

An Essay on Modernism vs. Traditionalism in The Mayor of Casterbridge During the first half of the 19th century English society was making the difficult transition from a pre-industrial Britain to Ãâmodern Victorian times. In agriculture, most of the transition took place around 1846 with the repeal of the corn laws. This allowed foreign grain to be imported into England for the first time. Consequently, the entire structure and methods of agriculture in Britain were greatly altered. Farfrae however, took a more modern approach by instilling respect in Whittle out of justice. Abel was in the wrong to sleep in. Similarly, the contrasting attitudes that Henchard and Farfrae take toward modernization and new developments help to illustrate the conflict of tradition versus modernism in Casterbridge society. Once upon a time, Luca Pacioli wrote a math book. It was just a little survey and should have been treated like ordinary books of the time and read and then disappeared into historical archives and forgotten. A few brief chapters on practical mathematics made this one special. The time was 1494. Columbus had discovered America just two years before. The author was a Franciscan monk. The chapter on practical mathematics addressed mathematics in business. The play starts Essay Example For Students
The play starts Essay The play starts in The Dinning Room of a fairly large suburban house, belonging to a prosperous manufacturer. This shows how the Birlings live in luxury. The family is well off and appear to have a nice life since they live in a large suburban house. Mr Birling is very much stereotypical businessman and never strays from his main aim of making profit. Even with something as splendid as his daughter getting married he cannot resist to say what this marriage can bring him in terms of profit. Your father and I have been friendly rivals in business for some time now though Crofts Limited are both older and bigger than Birling and Company and now youve brought us together, and perhaps we can look forward to time when Crofts and Birlings are no longer competing but working together for lower costs and higher prices. This is a representation of most upper-class people. These upper class people are out to make money and disregard everything else. We will write a custom essay on The play starts specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Using this stereotype makes it easier for the audience to relate to the characters Gerald gives a ring to Sheila at this point and her mood changes she shows delight as she looks at the ring, this shows how her being upper class makes her value highly an object such as a ring, this is very materialistic. Gerald himself is not using this ring as a sign of love he is using it to cover up his wrong doings although Sheila does not know yet it is more to cover up his guilt from his affair with the girl Eva Smith. Priestly uses all this to show how the Social Superior people of that era attach more value to objects than they do to human qualities such as love. This shows that the poor are more caring people as they show there emotions. Birling shows complete disregard to the meaning of marriage when he talks of it as a contract than a sign of love. He then continues to comment on issues like he is superior and knows better than the people who really do. He disregards all the news he has heard about war being close to this he says The Germans dont want war. Nobody wants war, except some half-civilised folks in the Balkans. By saying this he is stating his superiority by knowing whats right but this is very ironic as war does happen therefore he is proven wrong and the audience knows this as the play was written after the 2nd World War. This allows Priestly to show his anger towards the upper class people who think they know about these worldly matters but what they really no is wrong and is proven to be wrong. He is saying how the world should haven been prepared for the 1st World War but wasnt, all people in the world were very ignorant considering the events at the time. In this instance Priestlys main message is death must be for something and people like Birling need to realise this. Every time someone tries to argue what Birling is saying he continues to talk. For example: Just let me finish Eric, Youve a lot to learn yet. And Im talking as a hard-headed, practical man of business. He continues to talk about things we know are wrong, he comments on the progress man has made with the building of an unsinkable ship which we know sank on its maiden voyage, he says how the world will be in peace in 1940 when we know it will be in another World War in 1940. Priestly is telling the audience how upper class people like Birling are responsible for the worldly disasters because of the ignorance. Priestly hopes the audience realise this they will try to prevent similar things happening again. .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .postImageUrl , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:hover , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:visited , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:active { border:0!important; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:active , .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u702dc1d732054765960372de449eaf2c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Theatre company EssayWhen the inspector enters the scene, the atmosphere on stage changes. The soft pink light scene before becomes harder as does the mood. When Birling starts to mention names to try and make his social status known the inspector does not acknowledge it and carries on. The inspector speaks of a girl called Eva Smith suffering a horrible death. Eric is shocked where as Birling does not show any sign of human emotion and continues to want the inspector to leave. Birling does not like the fact that the inspector is in control and he is not. Birling rids himself of any responsibility for Eva Smiths suicide he says how something that happened so long ago can not have an effect now. The inspector then makes a clear speech about how the events could have affected Eva Smith. Because what happened to her then may have determined what happened to her afterwards, and what happened to her afterwards may have driven her to suicide. A chain of events This is the main message of the play it is stating how actions can have repercussions and people should be aware of these. This is telling the audience that their actions can and probably will affect other people. Priestly is stating how it is wrong to be prejudiced in making decisions as it can affect people on a small scale or a world wide scale such as the 1st and 2nd World War. It shows Priestlys thoughts on how the class system should change. Eva Smith was kicked out of her workplace because she ask for a pay rise well with in her rights nowadays, but back then she was kicked out for having an opinion and the bravery to confront her social superior. Eric mentions how he could have kept Eva Smith on. Priestly uses this as an example of how the upper classes are greedy and inconsiderate. Birling sees himself ranked above the working class. Birling says he had to be harsh to prevent them wanting more otherwise they would eventually be asking for the world. The inspectors reply to this leaves Birling speechless. They might. But after all its better to ask for the Earth than to take it. Priestly mentions this in his play because he wants the upper class people to stop acting in a selfish way.
